When I first started sewing, I didn’t exactly follow all parts of the patterns and instructions. I would skip over things I didn’t think were important. Pressing my seams, that can’t matter that much. Fabric recommendations, they are just suggestions, right? Now I laugh at how naive I was about the pattern instructions. Turns out that all those steps and suggestions are really important! Ha ha!
When I received this beautiful bamboo spandex fabric from Southern Belle Fabrics, I immediately knew it needed to be a Four Seasons Cardigan from Everything Your Mama Made & More. The pattern calls for a knit with good drape, and that describes this bamboo fabric perfectly! Not only does the bamboo fabric drape beautifully, but it is also so soft. You are in luck, I have a coupon code for you! Use the code: STITCHEDBYJENNIE to get 10% off all bamboo fabric through 12/31.
I have been wanting to sew up the Four Seasons Cardigan for a long time, and I am so glad that I finally did. It is an easy and fast sew. I originally topstitched all around the edge on my coverstitch, but realized that because of the drape of the front part of the cardigan, the backside of the stitching does show. Therefore, I recommend finishing the edge by folding twice and topstitching on a regular sewing machine (this is what I did) or leave the edge raw (knit doesn’t fray).
I made my cardigan in this beautiful rust bamboo, which is perfect for fall. It also comes in: mustard, burgandy, teal, eggplant and black. Here are the rest of the details about the bamboo fabric (in case you want to fill out my free printable when your new fabric arrives):
