My girls and I love fun socks! I used the ladies Knockout socks from The Wolf and the Tree, to make matching Batman socks for all of us. About a year ago I found some mens pajama pants on sale. I think they were less than $3 a pair, so I bought 5 pairs in the largest size possible (I think 2XL) and 1 pair in my husbands size. I cut apart the 2XL pants and used them to make matching Batman joggers for the whole family (I still need to blog about them). Fortunately I still had just enough fabric left over to make Batman socks for each of us as well!
The pattern comes with so many options and I let each of my girls pick the type of socks they wanted. I was also able to get a custom fit for each of us. The pattern is made so that you can choose your size for your feet and legs (Ladies shoe sizes 4-13, body sizes 0-32W). Here are the options that the pattern comes with:
- Simple Socks
- Elastic Cuff
- Cuff Band
- Lace Accent
- Rose Accent
- Ruched Boot Top
- Reversible Sock
- Optional Heel
- Cape Socks
- Yoga Socks
- Top of Toe Seam
- Single, Double and Triple Ruffle
- Top Tie Socks
My youngest and oldest daughters both chose the knee high socks with yellow bands. I had made myself the same options for my first pair of socks. The great thing about making your own clothes, is getting a custom fit. So even though it looks like we all have the same socks, they are all different sizes. In the picture above from left to right, I made a foot size 5, leg size 0 for my youngest, a foot size 7, leg size 0 for me, and a foot size 5, leg size 10 for my oldest. My oldest daughter was so excited that I could make socks to fit her calves. She has awesome calf muscles, but that makes it hard to get knee high socks that fit. Now I can make her all the socks she wants!
My 14 year old chose ankle socks with black bands. Her socks are foot size 7 and leg size 6.
My 13 year old has probably the best socks of all! She chose the knee high socks with capes. I added a batman symbol in yellow HTV.
We got a cool video of the capes in action! LOL!
I know that I will be making a lot more socks! I love that I can use scraps of leftover fabric to make the cuffs. I am really excited to try out the no show socks too!
Recommendations: I found some 2XL men’s pajama pants on sale and used it as fabric. Buy the largest size possible in order to get the most fabric.
Fabric: Upcycled batman fabric from mens pajama pants. Yellow and black DBP from Knitpop.
