When I saw the tester call for the Aurora dress from Wardrobe by Me, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to make this beautiful pattern. The front placket detail is what caught my eye, but really there are some many beautiful options for this pattern. The options on the Aurora are:

  • sleeveless or long sleeves with an elastic casing
  • blouse, tunic, short or midi length
  • ruffle at the hem
  • plain placket or placket with ties at the collar
  • belt to cinch in the waist

I made a sleeveless Aurora dress, with pockets and a belt. If you look at the line drawing above, I made mine like the top middle illustration. I knew I wanted a fabric with a good drape, so I used a cotton lawn from Girl Charlee.

To accent some of the pretty details of the pattern, I chose to use a solid navy fabric at the collar, placket and armscye bands.

Of course I added the pockets!

I know that I will making more Aurora’s, and I think my next one will probably be a blouse length with the ties at the collar. Many of the other testers made the ties, and they look good both in a bow or left hanging loose.
