The Autumn dress is a new pattern from Thread Faction. It is a fun, quick sew and I was able to use some new-to-me techniques on the dresses I made. The first technique I learned was a bound neckline. The instructions clearly explained how to finish the neckline and I really like the clean look. Another feature of this dress is the gathered waist. The pattern uses clear elastic to gather the skirt, before attaching it to the bodice. Gathering is one of those sewing tasks that I do not like, however using the clear elastic made gathering so much easier! A tip I have for using the clear elastic gather, is to make sure you take your time and sew slowly.
The first Autumn dress I made was with this cute zebra and heart print fabric from Girl Charlee. I love the look of this dress with some leggings and boots, and I know my daughter will be wearing this a lot this fall.
